FAQ’s

How does Jacob’s Well fit into the larger plan of Team Italy One?

Team Italy One is on a five year mission to ignite an explosive network of churches in the city of Genoa. By establishing an immediate physical presence Jacob’s Well gives the team the initial credibility and momentum it needs during these first two years of ministry.

Why small, cell type churches instead of a large high impact church?

Large churches are great environments, but difficult to reproduce. They are highly programmed which requires time and trained, professional leadership.

Team Italy One, on the other hand, values speed and Italian involvement.  The simple structure is suitable for untrained, italian lay leadership which makes the local church model almost instantly reproducible.

Why only two years?

Team Italy One follows a ministry philosophy called Short-Cycle Church Planting (SCCP). SCCP is a team based, results oriented approach to church planting. The goal is to establish independent, national led churches as quickly as possible in order to facilitate more rapid reproduction and eliminate dependency on foreign missionaries.

The  Jacob’s Well Project is only a means to that end, an explosive network of reproducing churches. Therefore, as the network begins to take shape and the churches begin maturation and multiplication, the need for The Jacob’s Well Project will no longer exist.

As Italian believers mature in their knowledge of Scripture and ability to lead, more complex local church structures will rise up.

Why not use existing facilities instead of creating your own?

While frequenting existing coffee bars, caffes, or social clubs is a valid way to meet Italians, it would not create the immediate impact that the team desires. Team Italy One has only five years to complete its mission, Months and even years of relationship building can be shortened by the existence of a visible, credible presence in the target area.
